Our process

Restaurant guide methodology

Our city directories are built to help someone choose where to eat—not to manufacture pages for every possible search.

What goes into a listing

We use the restaurant’s own website for basic facts such as name, address, cuisine, meal periods, ordering, reservations, and clearly stated features. Every fact keeps its source and observation date. Unknown details stay unknown.

What makes a city page useful

A city directory needs enough current choices to represent the place, original notes for every listing, and local guidance that helps readers compare neighborhoods, meal types, and restaurant formats. Cuisine—including seafood—stays a filter until it supports a meaningfully different guide.

What we do not claim

Directory pages are unranked. We do not publish “best” claims, ratings, or review summaries without a separate editorial standard and adequate firsthand evidence. Payment does not determine inclusion or placement.

Publication gate

A city page stays out of search until it has at least ten qualified restaurants, at least 80% current verification, validated search intent, distinct local guidance, source-backed notes, useful internal links, a named publisher, and a working corrections path. Pages are checked again as evidence ages.

Corrections

Readers can send a source-backed correction for review. Reports do not change listings automatically. Editorial approval remains a separate requirement before restaurant pages become indexable.

Restaurant profiles

Individual profiles combine original research with dated facts from restaurant websites. Hours, prices, and policies receive shorter freshness windows than restaurant identity and dining format. As evidence ages, those details are omitted on the next build until checked again. Upcoming events are optional planning context and never the foundation of a restaurant profile.

Outside perspectives

Local guides, official social accounts, and community discussions provide additional perspectives. A source’s publication date is separate from the date we checked it. Community opinions do not establish consensus or verified restaurant facts. Where connected, Google ratings and selected reviews appear with attribution in a separate section; they do not become Around SLO ratings, rankings, or review structured data.
